Abstract
The role of archives is important in an organization. The archive is a source of information and a vehicle for the archive is the material / data for making a decision correctly. The progress of an organization requires proper management support, so it requires data and information. One source of data is the archive, because the archive is evidence is evidence and records of transaction activities ranging from activities to the end. Archives - these are used both for internal purposes (that is, the use of data and information for internal office purposes) and for external purposes (service to the community or as a coordinating tool for each section). The main purpose of this research is to find out and analyze the Competence of Archives in the field of records management in the Rokan Hulu District Library and Archive Service. The type of research used in this study is qualitative using descriptive surveys and typology techniques. There are 10 informants in this study with the Head of Archive as the key informant. Data collection techniques with interviews and descriptive data analysis through a qualitative approach. This study concludes that the level of competency of the Archives in the Archives Management Department in the Library and Archives Office of Rokan Hulu Regency has not been maximized, it needs to be improved and improved again, especially on indicators of Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes of employees in the field of records. The advice given in this study is that the Government of Rokan Hulu Regency is expected to recruit employees who have a library and archival education background and include employees who are already in training on archives.
