Abstract

The problem of waste in the city of Pekanbaru has been happening for a long time, starting from the internal problems of the Pekanbaru city government towards third-party waste managers, to its citizens who are less aware of the environmental cleanliness of the city of Pekanbaru. Lack of public awareness in maintaining environmental cleanliness with the discovery of piles of garbage on roads and on street corners close to residential residents. Things like this if prolonged will certainly have a bad effect on the environment and on the health of the people. The purpose of this study is to determine the communication strategy of the Pekanbaru City Environment and Hygiene Service in disseminating the clean Pekanbaru action. The research method used is a qualitative method. The subjects in this study were the Section Head of the Pekanbaru City Environment and Hygiene Service, six Lurah and six communities. Based on the results of research and discussion conducted by the author, it can be concluded that the Implementation of the Tasks of the Environmental and Hygiene Service in the Supervision of Waste in Pekanbaru City is in the category of being quite implemented. This can be seen from the waste transportation that is not carried out regularly and on time and the lack of cleaning staff in the market. The inhibiting factors in carrying out the duties of the Department of Environment and Hygiene in supervising waste in Pekanbaru City are the lack of inadequate human resources in terms of quantity and quality. Pekanbaru was hampered by the condition of damaged equipment. .
