Abstract

GOVERNMENT COORDINATION BETWEEN SATUAN POLISI PAMONG PRAJA AND DINAS SOSIAL IN TACKLING THE PROBLEMS OF HOMELESS AND BEGGARS IN PEKANBARU CITY Abdul Rahman Hadi ABSTRACT Coordination is an effort to cooperate between agencies, agencies, units in carrying out certain tasks in such a way that there is complementarity, mutual assistance and complementarity. However, what happens in government coordination in Indonesia is that there are still many things that do not go as expected, there are still many government agencies that have not been able to establish coordination with one another. The purpose of this research was to determine how the government coordination between the Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja and the Dinas Sosial dan Pemakaman Umum in overcoming the problems of homeless people and beggars in Pekanbaru City. The theory used in this research is the theory of coordination. This study uses a qualitative research method, on the grounds that empirically the observed problem is more appropriate using that method. The results of this study indicate that government coordination has not been going well. This is due to the lack of coordination in handling homeless people and beggars due to the limited number of Satpol PP members, the lack of communication seen from the absence of a definite schedule to discuss handling vagabonds and beggars, and also due to the lack of awareness of the community who still breaking the rules not to give money to Gepeng where it was forbidden. Therefore it is suggested for the Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja and the Dinas Sosial to establish and improve working relationships in order to realize good government coordination.
