Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the interaction and main effect of Banana Trunk Compost and NPK 16:16:16 on the Growth and Yield of Corn (Zea mays L. ) . This research has been carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru City. The study was carried out from May to August 2021. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is Banana Trunk Compost Dosage (B) consisting of 4 levels, namely without administration, 1 kg, 2 kg, and 3 kg. The second factor was the NPK dose of 16:16:16 (N) consisting of 4 levels of treatment, namely without administration, 15 g, 30, and 45 g. Parameters observed were plant height, leaf area, flowering age, ear length, ear diameter, weight of planting ear, number of seeds per row, and weight of 100 seeds. Observational data were analyzed statistically and continued with Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results showed that by interaction, Banana Trunk Compost and NPK 16:16:16 had a significant effect on flowering age and number of seeds per row with the best combination dose of 3 kg per plot of banana stem compost and 45 g per plot of NPK 16:16:16. (B3N3). The main effect of Banana Trunk Compost was significant on all observation parameters at a dose of 3 kg per plot (B3). The main effect of NPK 16:16:16 was not significant on the observed parameters, namely the weight of 100 seeds at a dose of 45 g per plot (N3).
