Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth response and production of eggplant species with the application of Takakura Compost. This research has been carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau. The research design used a factorial completely randomized design consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is the type of eggplant which consists of 4 levels of treatment, namely: purple eggplant, green eggplant, white eggplant and index eggplant and the second factor is Takakura Compost which consists of 4 levels of treatment, namely: no treatment, 190 g/polybag, 380 g/ polybag and 570 g/polybag. Parameters observed were plant height, age of flowering, percentage of flowers to fruit, age of harvest, number of fruit planted, weight of planted fruit and number of remaining fruit. The data were analyzed statistically and continued with the honest significant difference test (BNJ) at the level of 5%. The results showed that the response of eggplant plant species on parameters of flowering age, percentage of flowers to fruit, age of harvest, number of fruit planted, weight of fruit planted, weight of fruit per fruit gave a real response to takakura compost. However, the response of eggplant plant species on plant height and number of fruit residues gave no significant response to takakura compost. The best results were found in the treatment of eggplant species with the application of takakura compost at a dose of 570 g/polybag.
