Abstract

Student character that has not been implemented properly in the school environment, student characteristics are very important to form a good one. The purpose of this study was to determine the importance of the role and efforts of teachers in developing the character of students in elementary schools through child-friendly school programs. This research method uses qualitative research with a naturalistic inquiry approach. This research uses three stages. (1) Observation, (2) Interview, (3) Documentation. From the results of the study, there were several efforts made by the teacher, namely; Implementing child-friendly school policies, implementing a curriculum in which the curriculum used is in accordance with developments. Educators and Educators have action and concern for students. Sufficient school facilities and infrastructure, ranging from toilet facilities, playing fields and student activities. Children's participation where the teacher always involves children in all activities. The participation of parents and the community is used as a supporter in implementing child-friendly school programs. In making these efforts, of course, teachers have obstacles such as understanding the teacher's understanding of the character and the friendly school program itself so that it is not realized properly at SDN 18 Pekanbaru.
