Abstract

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PARENT ENGAGEMENT IN EDUCATION AND SELF-REGULATION IN LEARNING IN STUDENTS / I Yunita Nurul Khusna 178110004 FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY RIAU ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY ABSTRACT In the learning process requires a good and strong self-control in order to achieve the desired goals, a self-control here is referred to as self-regulation in learning, which plays an important role in the learning process and in oneself. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between parental involvement in education and self-regulation in student learning. This study involved 80 samples of students at SMPN 1 Kempas who were selected using a random sampling technique. Based on the results of the normality test on self-regulation in learning has a Z value of 0.104 with p 0.032 > 0.05. Then the variable parental involvement in education has a Z value of 0.110 with p 0.018> 0, the correlation coefficient from the product moment analysis between parental involvement in education and self-regulation in learning with a value of r = 0.569 with sig 0.000. These results indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between the level of parental involvement in education and self-regulation in student learning. The higher the involvement of parents in education, the higher the self-regulation in learning and conversely the lower the involvement of parents in education, the lower the self-regulation in learning for students.
