Abstract
Solar water distillation is one of the methods used to produce clean and usable water by utilizing solar energy. The problem in solar water distillation is the low performance. This is caused by the ineffectiveness of the evaporation and condensation processes. The performance of a solar water distillation device is determined by the amount of clean water produced, one of the factors that affect the amount of water produced is the effectiveness of the solar heat absorbing plate on the distillation apparatus. The solar thermal radiation absorber plate is one of the components of solar water distillation which functions to absorb solar radiation and convert it into heat energy which will then heat the working fluid/water in the collector so that evaporation occurs. The steam produced will then be condensed into water droplets, then the water droplets will flow following the slope of the distillator cover glass to the clean water reservoir. This study aims to determine and obtain the type and shape of the absorbent plate which produces the best performance of tiered collector model solar water distillation. This study uses aluminum, zinc and galvanized absorbent plates with flat, corrugated and zikzak absorbent plates as the type and shape of the absorbent plate to be analyzed. The data that will be taken from this research include the quantity of distilled water, solar intensity, temperature (environment, glass, absorbent plate, water vapor, condensate temperature and water in the reservoir). Then the data will be analyzed which includes evaporation energy, condensation energy, distillation rate, product efficiency and distillation system efficiency. The data that has been analyzed will then be discussed to find out and get the type and shape of the absorbent plate which produces the best performance of solar water distillation with tiered type collector model. From the results of the research that has been carried out, it is obtained that the type and shape of the absorbent plate that has the best performance is the zinc type absorbent plate with the shape of the zik-zak absorbent plate which produces the highest evaporation energy value of 25.25 Watt, the highest condensation energy value of 26.44 Watt, the rate value the highest distillation value is 0.0000111 kg/s, the highest product efficiency value is 14%, and the highest distillation system efficiency value is 7.57%.
