Abstract
The Rukun Tetangga (RT) has the task of assisting the village head in providing services, collecting population data, and other tasks assigned by the village head. For this reason, each RT head must have the capacity, so that he is able to help the village head well. The purpose of this study was to determine the capacity of the Rukun Tetangga in Helping the Head of Sorek Dua Village, Pangkalan Kuras District, Pelalawan Regency. This type of descriptive qualitative research, data sources come from informants who understand the research problem. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. All collected data is separated, presented, then analyzed in depth and then conclusions can be drawn from the results of the study. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that there was a lack of capacity in the Rukun Tetangga (RT) in assisting the village head of Sorek Dua. The first is Knowledge, that the RT lacks the capacity in terms of general knowledge about its duties and functions, technical knowledge in village government administration, and self-awareness as community servants. Second, Ability, that the RT lacks the ability to carry out government duties and take a fair attitude. However, in terms of establishing cooperative relationships with the community and communication and coordination, it has been running as expected. The third interest is that most of the RT have shown an attitude of service, are confident in serving, and are responsible for carrying out their duties and functions. Suggestions to be conveyed by each selected RT should be given education and training as well as people who are able to maintain communication, coordination, and consult with various parties.
