Abstract

This research basically tries to describe how gangs formed in the Pekanbaru City Women's Penitentiary. The factors for the formation of and the benefits of having a gang become a study that researchers want to see and observe with criminological analysis. So by conducting a qualitative research approach and conducting in-depth interviews with several sources, it was explained that the formation of gangs in the Pekanbaru City Women's Penitentiary is considered a culture that can influence crime events as described in the concept of cultural criminology. Women who form gangs as the third preposition in Sutherland's differential association theory explain the occurrence of intimate interactions between gangs. That intimate interaction makes a lot of things, from good to bad as the violence taught between prisoners in a gang.
