Abstract
The purpose of this study to know cognitive ability of Biology of grade students of VIId SMP IT Syahruddiniyah Academic Year 2017/2018 with the application of cooperative learning type Talking Stick and handout on 22 March, 2017 until May 24, 2016 of grade VIId students of SMP IT Syahruddiniyah Academic Year 2016/2017 which amounts to 24 students consist of 24 female students. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). Parameters measured are student cognitive ability in the form of absorption and mastery learning students that consist of individual mastery and classical. The data were analyzed descriptively to determine the absorption and mastery learning students to the value ofknowledge understanding of the concept(Cognitive)and the value of scientific performance (Psychomotor). Absorption value of knowledge understanding of the conceptstudents before the Classroom Action Research (CAR) 78,29% increase in the first cycle to 80,13% % and the second cycle had increased to 92,07%.Classical completeness value ofknowledge understanding of the concept students before CAR 66,67% increase in the first cycle to 91,67% and the second cycle had increased to 100%.. Based on the research results it can be type talking stick by using handout to result of cognitive learning biology student of viid class smp it syahruddiniyah academic year 2016/2017.
