Abstract

This study aims to describe how the form of the Silek Jantan Godang performance is in Rokan Village, Rokan IV Koto District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The performing art of Silek Jantang Godang is one of the traditional Malay arts in welcoming guests in Rokan Village, Rokan IV Koto District, Rokan Hulu Regency. The method used in this research is an interactive qualitative method using descriptive data. The research subject is Untung Hendra as a silat coach. The object of research is the background of the formation of Silek Jantan Godang, and the form of the Silek Jantan Godang performance. Data collection techniques were carried out by (1) observation, (2) interviews, (3) documentation. The findings of this study are (1) the Silek jantan Godang performance is one of the traditional Malay arts in welcoming guests in Rokan Village, Rokan IV Koto District, (2) The variety of motions for the Silek Jantan Godang performing arts include Salam Sombah, Langkah Tigo Suuk, Puyuh Mupu, Olang Bobega, and Salam Penutup, (3) Musical instruments used by Gong, Calempong, and Gendang, (4) Costumes that are used are black clothes and black pants and wear belts that are colored according to the level of the fighter's knowledge, (5) The properties used are usually swords, knives and wood or according to the request of the host. Conclusions based on these data can be concluded that the form of the Silek Jantan Godang performance consists of history, movement, music, costumes, and properties.
