Abstract

Mental health is a psychological state of someone who shows the ability in adjusting and solving problems that exist in themselves and surrounding environment. To find out the mental health of kindergarten students, teachers have to be able to see or interpret every behavior or activity carried out by these students, known as perception. This presence is conducted to produce the next qualified generation. This study aims to find out the description of perception of kindergarten teachers towards students mental health in Pekanbaru. This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a sample size of 336 people. The sampling technique in this study uses quota sampling technique. The data collection method is carry out by using one scale, the scale of perception. The reliability test is carried out using Cronbach's Alpha technique which yielded 0.934. The data analysis method in this study uses SPSS 22.00 for windows. The result of statistical analysis indicates that the percentage of the kindergarten teacher's perception of student’s mental health in Pekanbaru is quite good with 128 participants or 38.09% of 100% participants. This illustrates that kindergarten teachers in Pekanbaru are quite good in perceiving students' mental health.
