Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine the factors that cause hate speech on Facebook social media in Kandis District, Siak Regency. This type of research uses a qualitative case study method. The location of the research was conducted in Siak Regency which is in Minas District, with informants who were designated as sources of information who were people who knew the issues being studied. Data was collected by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. After the collected data is separated according to the subject matter and analyzed in depth, then conclusions can be drawn from this research. Based on the results of the research and discussion that has been described in the previous chapter, it is known that the hate speech that occurred in Kandis District, Siak Regency by Mr. "x" was due to actions taken by FPI mass organizations in restaurants that were open and serving visitors in during the day during the month of Ramadhan. This triggers the perpetrators of hate speech to write hate speech with inappropriate words on Facebook accounts and cause unrest in the community. The hate speech that was raised by the perpetrators through social media Facebook was due to an emotional feeling shortly after seeing the video of the order circulating on Facebook.
