Abstract

Psychological well-being in adolescents can be the foundation for them in facing critical periods in the adolescent time and can be used as one of the main foundations in preventing juvenile delinquency, as well as to construct a family system so the students and Islamic students are comfortable in running school education. The purpose of this study is to find out the difference between psychological well-being of junior high school and islamic boarding school students in Pekanbaru. The data collection technique used is midlife scale that measures psychological well-being by Ryff (1989) which is distributed to 200 respondent. Meanwhile, the data analysis method used is the independent sample t-test. Based on the data analysis by using different test analysis techniques, obtained the value of statistical analysis results t = 2,948. This shows that there is a difference between the psychological well-being of junior high school students and islamic boarding schools students in Pekanbaru. The majority of responses to the psychological well-being of junior high school students are in the moderate category, which is 45,59 percent and Islamic boarding school students are also in the moderate category which is 43,38 percent. The high psychological well-being of students can be measured by the ability of students to develop their talents and interests. This study shows that students and Islamic students have different psychological well-being.
