Abstract
Writing skills are skills that require continuous talent and practice. Indonesian subjects consist of several subjects which require students to be able to write, one of which is writing exposition text. In learning Indonesian in SMA 8 Pekanbaru, students have problems in writing material, especially writing exposition texts as evidenced by a low average value. The formulation of the problem proposed in this study is how is the influence of the problembased learning model on learning outcomes in writing text material for exposition students of Class X MIPA 5 of SMA Negeri 8 Pekanbaru. This study aims to determine the effect of problem based learning models on learning outcomes in writing text exposition students of MIPA 5 grade X in SMA Negeri 8 Pekanbaru. This research is a type of quantitative research using the correlation method, which is analyzed using regression analysis. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation techniques, questionnaire techniques, and test techniques, with data sources consisting of 36 students. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that: (1) there is an influence of problem based learning model on student learning outcomes with an average student score of = 87.58 moderate category (2) the magnitude of the effect of the use of problem based learning models on the results of writing exposition text by proven on the results R Square value = 0.558 which, if it is minimized, becomes 55.8%, (3) student learning outcomes in writing exposition text material is = 0.831 or 83.1% and has a strong interpretation in katerogi.
