Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the function of dance and the form of presentation of the Bungo Henna Karoteh dance in traditional ceremonies in Simalinyang Village, Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The theory used in this study uses Hadi's (2000)theory about the function of dance as a means of ceremony, as entertainment and as a performance, and forms of dance presentation such as movement, musical accompaniment, fashion, and make-up. This research method uses qualitative research with data collection used are observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study are the existence of the Bungo Inai Karoteh dance in traditional ceremonies in Simalin village which is seen from its function, where the existence of the Bungo Inai Karoteh dance seen from its function shows it as a means of ceremony, as entertainment and as a show to the Simalinyang village community who witnessed the night of the bride and groom with a performance. dances that are performed after praying together or kenduru, its existence from its current function is starting to be less cultured by the local community, this is due to the lack of interest of teenagers in participating in dance studio activities. The existence of the Bungo Inai Karoteh dance in traditional ceremonies in Simalin village which is seen from its presentation shows its current existence can be seen from the movement, where the Bungo Inai Karoteh dance movement is carried out in 7 main movements which are symbolic in the Bungo Inai Karoteh dance, besides that the presentation is seen in the form of accompaniment. Bungo henna karoteh dance music, where the musical accompaniment that is presented today uses modern keyboard instruments, in the past using drums, kompang and flutes, musical accompaniment presentations are used to beautify the Bungo henna karoteh dance in its movements, in addition to the presentation of male dancers' clothing. men use black cloth and caps and sarongs, while female dancers use brackets and songket subordinates
