Abstract

Teacher Communication Strategies in Improving Student Achievement for Grade 9 SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru During the Covid-19 Pandemic Febra Rozi Ramadhan 169110097 This study aims to obtain observations regarding teacher communication strategies in improving the learning achievement of grade 9 students at SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru during the Covid-19 pandemic. This observation can be seen from how the teacher's communication strategy is to improve student learning achievement, what are the inhibiting and supporting factors in the process of teacher communication strategies during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were principals, 9.1 grade teachers, curriculum representatives, mathematics teachers, computer teachers, science teachers and students. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this research is analytical and qualitative is open, inductive is said to be open to change, and refinement is based on the incoming data. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it was found that: 1) The communication strategy used by the teacher in improving student learning achievement during the Covid-19 pandemic was a sociocultural persuasive strategy, and the meaning construction strategy. 2) the inhibiting factor that occurs in communication comes from inadequate media, lack of interaction time between students and teachers during learning. 3) how to build communication between teachers and students in the learning process, namely the existence of feedback to teachers and students, utilizing the teacher as a facilitator for questions and answers, listening to the teacher effectively so that communication takes place well. The results of this study will be useful as a reference for teachers who have implemented learning during the current Covid-19 pandemic.
