Abstract

This study is motivated by the lack of interest in recitingQur‟an, students‟ opinions that reciting Qur‟an is less important, some students do not bring the Qur‟anwhen they study Islamic studies and when they follow a religious activity every Friday and there are still some students who cannot recite the Qur'an. Each student should have a high interest in reciting the Qur'an, because the existence of interest in reciting Qur'an is very important to be applied in daily life. The formulation of problem in this study is how the influence of the Islamic studies teachers‟ encouragement on the students‟ interest in reciting the Qur'an at the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Bagan Sinembah, Rokan Hilir Regency. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of Islamic studies teachers‟ encouragement on the students‟ interest in reciting the Qur'an at the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Bagan Sinembah, Rokan Hilir Regency. The type of this study is quantitative with a correlation approach. The population includes all students at the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Bagan Sinembah consisting of 206 students, with a sample of 136 students. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires and documentation. The results of this study show that the hypothesis of the influence of Islamic studies teachers‟ encouragement on the students‟ interest in reciting the Qur'an is accepted with a significance value of 0,000. The influence is quite strong (0.479 or 47.9%). According to the study, it found that if the Islamic studies teachers‟ encouragement is increasing, then it will increase the students‟ interest in reciting Qur'an by 0.304 or 30.4%. And vice versa, if the Islamic studies teachers‟ encouragement is decreasing, then the students‟ interest in reciting Qur'an will also decrease by 0.304 or 30.4%. So, it can be concluded that there is a quite strong influence of islamic studies teachers‟ encouragementon the students‟ interest in reciting Qur'an at the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Bagan Sinembah, Rokan Hilir Regency.
