Abstract

The ability to recite Al-Qur'an is a crucial thing that must be considered by teachers and other school members. It is obligated for every student to be able to recite Al-Qur’an properly and correctly because Al-Qur'an is the first and main source of Islamic teachings, while the other one is as-Sunnah. Without the ability to recite, the results obtained will not be maximal and learning objectives will not be achieved. Based on the observation conducted in class V Baghdad Aksel of Al-Ulum Islamic Elementary School Pekanbaru, there were some students whose low ability in reciting Al-Qur'an, then it needs to figure out and find the solution. The problem formulation of this study is whether the application of tahsin method can improve students’ ability to recite Al-Quran in Class V Baghdad Aksel of Al-Ulum Islamic Elementary School Pekanbaru. This study aims to investigate the application of tahsin method in improving students’ ability to recite Al-Qur'an in Class V Baghdad Aksel at Al- Ulum Islamic Elementary School Pekanbaru. This study is done by applying tahsin method and this is Classroom Action Research (CAR), one of the efforts to improve students’ ability in reciting Al-Qur'an for each material presented in the subject of Qiro’ah Al-Qur'an. The results of study show that the students’ ability to recite Al-Qur'an before applying the tahsin method is in the low category with a percentage of 50%. After applying the tahsin method at the first cycle, the students’ ability to recite Al-Qur'an increased with a percentage of 65% or included in the moderate category, because the expected result has not been achieved and there are some weaknesses, then continued with the second cycle, at this cycle the students’ ability to recite Al-Qur'an increased very well with a percentage of 90% or include in the very high category. Because the expected result has been achieved, so the cycle is not continued anymore. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of Tahsin method can improve students’ ability in reciting Al-Qur'an in Class V Baghdad Aksel at Al-Ulum Islamic School Pekanbaru and it is included in the category of "Very High" because the result of a percentage is 90%.
