Abstract

ABSTRACT Guidance and mentoring of prisoners in prison is carried out by the minister and carried out by correctional officers. The penitentiary system that is run based on the law places prisoners as human beings who make mistakes and must be nurtured to get back on the right path. This is indicated by the mention of prisoners as prisoners of conscience (WBP). In the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, prisons and detention centers are in the main focus. Where prisons and detention centers are densely populated places, while during a pandemic like this there should be no crowds. This condition is for sure very worrisome. In this thesis entitled "Implementation of Convict Guidance During the Covid-19 Pandemic Period at the Class IIB Batusangkar State Detention Center", this problem is discussed, namely: How is the Implementation of Convict Guidance During the COVID-19 Pandemic in the Class IIB Batusangkar State Detention Center and what are the obstacles faced by the Class IIB Batusangkar State Detention Center Officer in carrying out coaching for inmates during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used to answer the problems mentioned above is sociological research by conducting field research at the Class IIB Batusangkar State Detention Center. The data used in this thesis were obtained through interviews, literature books, legal journals, theses, laws, electronic data, and a large Indonesian dictionary. The entire data that has been obtained is then analyzed qualitatively, then concluded through the deductive method. The results of the study show that the implementation of coaching prisoners during the pandemic continues as usual, what distinguishes it is that the implementation of coaching must comply with health protocols. Stay scheduled and organized. Coaching activities in the detention center are spaced, both on the chair and on the lesehan (sitting on the floor). Furthermore, the obstacle in terms of coaching is not being able to carry out activities with a large number of people. That is, they are divided into several groups. Scheduled and orderly. Preparation before the construction activities begin, such as cleaning the entire place and even objects with disinfectant, certainly takes a long time. Because it doesn't start right away. Must always wear a mask. Sometimes the inmates forget that they are still in a state of Covid-19, so they shake hands or make physical contact and don't wash their hands afterward.
