Abstract

Renting is a form of muamalah that many people do to meet their daily needs. For rural communities who work as farmers, the objects of renting are commonly in the form of paddy fields. Such kind of renting is also often done by the people of Kemuning Muda Village, Bungaraya District, Siak Regency. Therefore, the practice of renting must be in accordance with Islamic rules. The problem formulations of the study are: (1) how is the practice of renting paddy fields in Kemuning Muda Village, Bungaraya District, Siak Regency? (2) how is the practice of renting paddy fields in the perspective of Islamic Economics implemented in Kemuning Muda Village, Bungaraya District, Siak Regency?. The type of this study is field research. To obtain valid data, the researcher refers to data sources from primary and secondary data. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The interviews are conducted with 10 respondents. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the practice of renting paddy fields in Kemuning Muda Village is carried out directly between the tenants and the owners of the lands. The agreement is carried out by discussion and the contract is verbal, the transaction of the rental agreement is carried out at the beginning of the contract by determining the payment of the rent and the term of the rent. At the same time, there are no witnesses of this contract. According to the perspective of Islamic economics, the practice of renting paddy fields is legal and it fulfills the pillars and conditions of Ijarah. The owners of the lands have received money from the lands that are rented out, and the tenants get the profits from growing the paddy in the lands that they have rented. In addition, the income from the harvest is earned every season can improve the welfare of the community.
