Abstract
Geochemistry aims to determine the distribution and information of these mineral deposits in the form of general surface geological data and subsurface data (petrographic testing) as information on the potential of mineral deposits in an area to be utilized as energy resources. The research area was located in Tanjung Labuh village, Sumpur Kudus district, Sijunjung Regency, West Sumatra Province. This research was conducted to determine the geological aspects, mineral characteristics, distribution, and mineral potential in the area. The research method used geological analysis (petrography), XRD and XRF analysis on sand deposits contained in rivers. The results showed that in the research area there were to geomorphological units of rather steep volcanic hills. In study area there were also three litology units namely crystalline limestone units, granite units, and alluvium deposits The minerals that had the highest peak value was silica minerals, with an average silica mineral value of 74.124%, aluminum oxide 17.042%, potassium oxide 4.559%, iron oxide 2.135%, and phosphorus pentoxide 1.207%. The distribution of minerals in the study area namely silica minerals (48 %), aluminum oxide (35%), potassium oxide (10%), iron oxide (4%), and phosphorus pentoxide (3%) in the study area. The potenticy of research area in the form of silica sand and aluminium minerals can be used as industrial material.
