Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of kiambang compost and KCl fertilizer on the growth and production of shallots. This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Jalan Kaharudin Nasution Km 11 No. 113, Air Cold Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City. The research was carried out for 3 months starting from February to April 2021. The design used was a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors, the first factor was: Kiambang compost (K) and the second factor was KCl fertilizer, each consists of 4 levels of treatment. Parameters observed were plant height, harvest age, number of tubers, tuber wet weight per clump, tuber dry weight per clump, tuber weight loss. The research data were analyzed statistically and continued with the BNJ follow-up test at the 5% level. The results showed that the effect of kiambang compost and KCl fertilizer had a significant effect on plant height, harvest age, number of tubers, wet weight of tubers per clump, and dry weight of tubers per clump. The best treatment was giving a dose of 3 kg/plot of kiambang compost (K3). The main effect of KCl fertilizer was real on all observation parameters with the best treatment of 20 g/plot(C2).
