Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction effect and the main effect of the type and dose of potassium fertilizer on the growth, production and sweetness of melons. The research has been carried out at the Integrated Agricultural Unit of the Islamic University of Riau (UPT-UIR). Jl. Binoculars, Kubang Jaya Village, Kec. Siak Hulu, Kab. Kampar. For 3 months from April to June 2021. The research design used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors. The first factor is various types of potassium fertilizer, consisting of 3 levels, namely KCl fertilizer, ZK fertilizer and Grand K fertilizer. The second factor is various doses of potassium fertilizer, consisting of four levels, namely 15, 30, 45 and 60 grams per plant. Parameters observed were flowering age, harvest age, fruit weight, fruit diameter, flesh thickness, sweetness level (% brix). Observational data were analyzed statistically and continued with the BNJ test at the 5% level. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the interaction effect of type and dose of potassium fertilizer is significant on the parameters of observation of flowering age, fruit weight, fruit diameter, fruit flesh thickness, sweetness level (% brix), but not significant on harvest age. the best treatment of Grand K potassium fertilizer with a dose of 45 g/plant; The main effect of the type of potassium fertilizer was significant on all parameters, the best treatment was with Grand K fertilizer; the main effect of the dose of potassium fertilizer was real on all observation parameters, the best treatment was at a dose of 45 g/plant.
