Abstract

This study aims to: (1) determine the characteristics of the red chili supply chain members, (2) analyze the distribution mechanism of the red chili supply chain, (3) analyze the marketing efficiency of the red chili supply chain in Seberida District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The method used in this research is a survey method. Farmers' respondents were taken by census as many as 32 farmers. Collecting traders were taken purposively, namely as many as 3 collecting traders. Retailers and consumers are taken purposively namely 5 people each. The data analysis used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The aspects studied are the characteristics of supply chain members, product flow, information flow, financial flow, supply chain distribution costs, supply chain distribution margins, farmer's share and marketing efficiency in the supply chain. The results showed that the age of all respondents was in the productive age. The length of education of all respondents has a low level of education. The gender of all respondents on average is male. The farming and business experience of all respondents are quite experienced. Number of family dependents All respondents have a small number of family dependents. The supply chain distribution mechanism consists of channels I, II, and III. The flow of red chili products in the research area uses several marketing institutions. In channel I, the only marketing agencies involved are farmers and consumers. In channel II the marketing institutions involved are farmers, collectors, retailers and consumers. In channel III the marketing institutions involved are farmers, retailers and consumers. The flow of information that flows either from red chili farmers to consumers or vice versa. The financial flow that flows from the consumer side to the red chili farmers. Marketing efficiency in the supply chain in channel I is 5.36%, in channel II is 7.72% and in channel III is 2.33%. So that the red chili supply chain at the research site is efficient. Farmer's share in channel I is 100.00%, in channel II is 83.33% and in channel III is 90.47%.
