Abstract

Buton Asphalt (Asbuton) can be used as one of the natural resources that can be relied upon in the flexible pavement sector, especially for national needs in the future, but the use of Buton Asphalt is not too maximal in terms of quality. Many things can cause the quality of pavement to be bad, one of which is the influence of the surrounding environment or natural factors. The most often heard damage to flexible pavement is caused by standing water on the asphalt surface. No exception to the coastal areas that often use asphalt as one of the pavements that are very vulnerable to runoff and inundation. Therefore, in this study an experimental test was conducted in a laboratory according to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) to determine the extent of the influence or ability of Asphalt Buton (ASBUTON) as a result of sea water and fresh water immersion. In this study using an experimental method carried out in the laboratory and in accordance with the 2010 General Directorate General Specifications (Revised 3) for modified asphalt mixtures. This research uses a type of buton asphalt with JBMA50 brand and testing is done by doing a marinade using sea water and using fresh water. From the comparison results on the test using a Marshall laboratory dilaborarorium test for the AC-WC mixture using JBB ASBUTON 50, the Marshall stability value carried out by immersion using fresh water is 1,551 kg and the result of sea water immersion is 1,272 kg so that the value has a deviation of 17, 99%, while for the value of melt (Flow) has a deviation of 5.71%. Based on the results of these data it can be concluded that the strength and durability of ASBUTON JBMA 50 has decreased due to the nature of seawater corrosivity which can damage the strength of the asphalt mixture.
