Abstract
The teachers’ effort is one of very important things to achieve a good teaching and learning process in accordance with the goal that has been set up. The teachers’ effort is one of the things that must be understood by the teachers, so that what the teachers explain and convey can be well received or understood by the students. The teachers at SMPN Satu Atap Batu Ampar have done some efforts, although the results are still not optimal. The problem formulation of the study is how the teachers’ efforts in instilling spiritual values in students at SMPN Satu Atap Batu Ampar. The type of this study is qualitative research. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. After the data are collected then they are analyzed by simplifying the data and interpreting them. This analysis is carried out on all data obtained from observations, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that the teachers’ efforts in instilling spiritual values are as follows: in teaching, the teachers only carry out their duties and obligations and expect salaries without the intentions because of Allah, Learning activities only focus on developing Intelligence Quotient (IQ) without being based on the intention of worship because of Allah, the teachers create good communication that improves teacher performance and as material for accountability to students’ parents and habitualize the students to pray before and after learning.
