Abstract
Waterflooding is a proven method to increase the value of ultimate recovery from conventional oil reservoirs. Although relatively simple and inexpensive to operate, the dynamics and performance of waterflooding are controlled by several complex factors. Because of this complexity it is difficult to develop normalization parameters that are strong, consistent and simple to compare performance and recovery from different reservoirs when waterflooding is performed. The water injection process proved to be less efficient, due to the large production of water and the low oil yield during the breakthrough, polymer injection became one of the flexible solutions to improve the EOR process. Injection of polymer gel can increase oil recovery quite high compared to conventional water injection. The method of adding polymer gel to prevent excessive water production by varying the concentration of polymer, crosslinker and injection rate to increase production and oil recovery factor. This study uses the assumption of a heterogeneous reservoir with no faults or other geological conditions in the reservoir. Based on the results of simulations carried out on the problem of waterflooding scenario A basecase 1 which is opened 2 layers between low permeability and high permeability and scenario B basecase 2 which is only opened in layers that have low permeability compared to the layer above. From scenario A and scenario B and 4 cases carried out on the confomance problem in waterflooding using crosslinkers, the polymer with the parameters seen is the crosslinker concentration, polymer concentration, injection rate, and Maximum Adsorption Capacity to determine the optimum value. Then the value obtained by cumulative oil production is 247.679 bbl, oil recovery factor is 18,47% and water cut is 18,63% which is the most optimum.
