Abstract
This study is motivated by the problem of academic writing skills of students at the Islamic Education Study Program, Islamic University of Riau (UIR). The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of problem-based learning method on students’ academic writing skills at Islamic Education Study Program, Islamic University of Riau. The type of the study is quantitative research with a correlation approach. This study consists of 210 respondents. The data collection techniques used are questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are normality test, descriptive test, and simple linear regression. The results of the study show that the level of mastery of the students’ perceptions and students’ academic writing skills in the problem-based learning method are in the high category. From the results of hypothesis testing, it is found that the p�value = 0.000 <0.05, it can be interpreted that there is an influence of problem�based learning method on students’ academic writing skills at the Islamic Education Study Program, Islamic University of Riau. The magnitude of the influence is moderate (0.468 or 46.8%). In conclusion, the problem-based learning method influences the students’ academic writing skills at the Islamic Education Study Program, Islamic University of Riau.
