Abstract
UTILIZATION OF ADDITIONAL EGG SHELL POWDER ON COMPRESSION STRENGTH OF CONCRETE RAY SAHENDRA NPM : 143110478 ABSTRACT Concrete is the main building material used in the construction world, it is generally known that the good and bad properties of concrete can be seen from its compressive strength. Concrete consists of Portland Cement (PC) or other hydraulic cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, and water, with or without additives. Mixing the constituent materials is done in order to obtain a solid concrete composition. The high level of development today makes the level of development of the use of concrete higher, to minimize this need, it is necessary to have innovations to reduce the production of materials, cement for example. There needs to be an alternative to utilize wasted waste such as egg shells to be used as a mixture in the manufacture of concrete. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of eggshell powder on the compressive strength of concrete. Eggshell powder was used as a partial substitute for cement, with a mixed composition of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10%. This research uses SNI 03-2834-2000 for concrete mix design. The specimens were cylindrical size (150 mm x 300 mm), the specimens were treated and tested at the age of 28 days. Based on research on the use of eggshell powder, it can be seen that concrete that uses a mixture of eggshell powder is thicker than concrete that does not use a mixture of eggshell powder. The greater the addition of the percentage of eggshell powder, the lower the slump value obtained. The results of the compressive strength of concrete obtained from the use of eggshell powder with a mixed composition of 2%, 4% 6%, 8%, and 10%, the highest compressive strength value was obtained at the percentage addition of 6% eggshell powder, which was 21,419 Mpa, the compressive strength decreased. quality at the percentage addition of 10% is 16,701 MPa. Based on research, eggshell powder cannot replace the role of some cement in heavy construction, but eggshell powder can be used as a partial replacement for cement in light construction, to take advantage of wasted waste that is around us, such as plastic bottle waste, glass bottle waste, waste aluminum etc.
