Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between marital satisfaction with forgiveness in married couples over 10 years. The method used in this research is quantitative method. The sample of this study was 123 women (wives) who lived in Bangko Mukti Village, Rokan Hilir Regency. The measuring instrument used was the scale of marriage satisfaction by Lestari (2012) and then modified by researchers. This scale consists of 40 items arranged with a Likert scale model, then the second scale is the forgiveness scale, this scale uses Transgression-Related Interpersonal motivations (TRIM-18). TransgressionRelated Interpersonal motivations (TRIM-18) is a scale developed by Michael E. McCullough. This scale consists of 40 items arranged with a Likert scale model. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between marital satisfaction with forgiveness. These results indicate the higher the level of forgiveness the higher the marriage satisfaction and conversely the lower the forgiveness the lower the marriage satisfaction. The relationship between these two variables shows that forgiveness can be used to predict the emergence of marital satisfaction among married couples.
