Abstract

One of the crimes that require the application of appropriate criminal sanctions, namely the crime of narcotics abuse. This is because drug abuse is increasingly worrying. Penitentiary is one of the places to provide guidance for prisoners of narcotics abuse. One of them is the Class IIB Rumbai Narcotics Penitentiary which provides guidance to narcotics case prisoners, where the Class II B Narcotics Correctional Institution seeks the best ways to provide guidance for narcotics case prisoners, so that they can become better people and be accepted back. in society. By providing guidance, it is hoped that the inmates will have a sense of responsibility for every action they take, and also so that the inmates can be accepted back by the community and actively play a role in development and live a normal life as good citizens. Through qualitative descriptive methods and conducting in-depth interviews with informants in the study, it was concluded that the coaching efforts carried out by the Class II B Narcotics Correctional Institution were fostering independence and personality development, and various kinds of obstacles were encountered by Narcotics Prisons in carrying out coaching, be it obstacles that come from internal prisoners or external from the correctional institution itself.
