The problem in this study was that the passing under the volleyball of students was still very weak. Based on the observations in SMAN 5 Pekanbaru, problems were found in learning physical and health education as follows: 1) Of the total number of students, only a small percentage of students were able to do the lower passing technique correctly, 2) Students were eager to play volleyball, but technical abilities the basis of lower passing is very low, 3) Students do not understand the basic techniques of lower passing well, 4) Students are less able to understand the lower passing techniques even though they have been taught. The purpose of this study was to find out whether the basic techniques of lower ball volleyball passing can be improved through the pairing strategy of Class X students at SMAN 5 Pekanbaru. Based on the results and discussion of this study it can be concluded that through the pairing strategy can increase the under-passing of the volleyball of Class X Students of SMA Negeri 5 Pekanbaru. This can be seen from the average value of the classical completeness percentage in the first cycle of 40% and in the second cycle of 85.71% so that there is an increase in the percentage value of 45.71%.
