Abstract

Improper land use on river boundaries will have a negative impact on the environment and spatial layout. The spread of uncontrolled buildings impacts the river boundary area with the emergence of buildings in the river boundary area. This study aims to determine the strategy of restoring the function of the Batang Mahat River boundary area, using qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive methods and data analysis using GIS Arc Gis 10.4 software. The characteristics of the people living in the river border area consist of economic and socio-cultural characteristics. Land use in the river border region is dominated by plantations, however in 2016-2020 the area of plantations is declining. Meanwhile, the number of settlements increased from 2016-2020. Given that the Batang Mahat river boundary area has a tendency to develop enough physical development, and there are still many buildings on the river boundary that result in land use not in accordance with its purpose and function, so it is necessary to strategize so that the river boundary area can return to its original function as an area. protect. The strategys for restoring the function of river border areas is providing incentives and disincentives, socializing to the community about the importance of preserving the environment, using land according to its capabilities and suitability, increasing river conservation to preserve the river.
