Abstract
Trade growth in Pekanbaru City continues to increase annually in line with population growth. Where is the location of the existence of minimarkets and grocery stores which tend to be close together. This creates competition between minimarkets and grocery stores which can affect the sustainability of the grocery store on Jl. HR. Soebrantas, Tampan District. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the existence of minimarkets on the business continuity of the surrounding grocery stores with the objectives of (1) identifying the distribution of minimarkets and grocery stores on Jl.HR.Soebrantas (2) identifying the suitability of the location of minimarkets with grocery stores on Jl.HR.Soebrantas (3 ) analyze the effect of the existence of minimarkets on the sustainability of the grocery store business in the vicinity . This research uses a quantitative approach, with mapping analysis techniques to analyze the presence of minimarkets and grocery stores, buffer analysis techniques to analyze location suitability using the ArcGIS application, and scoring analysis. random sampling with a sample of 50 respondents using frequency distribution analysis and scoring analysis to determine the respondents' assessment of the performance of minimarkets and grocery stores. The results showed that the existence of minimarkets on Jl. HR. Soebrantas, Tampan District was marked by the proliferation of minimarkets of the Indomaret and Alfamart types. The growth that occurred resulted in the low suitability of the minimarket location because it was close to other trades, especially the grocery store around it with a low population density. This has an effect on people's preferences with superior assessment results on minimarkets (Alfamart and Indomaret), especially on the management and facilities they provide and it can be assumed that competition will occur and affect the sustainability of grocery stores around minimarkets.
