Abstract

Taluk Kuantan is the capital city of Kuantan Singingi Regency which is located in Kuantan Tengah District as a regional activity center (PKW). The area of green open space in Kuantan Tengah District as the capital of Kuantan Singingi Regency is 112.26 Ha or 0.41% of the total area of Kuantan Tengah District of 27,074 Ha. The problems seen in Kuantan Tengah District at this time, namely the problem of limited budget, human resources, infrastructure, and low community participation are still an obstacle that is the government's concern in managing green open space in Kuantan Singingi Regency. This study aims to formulate the concept of Green Open Space in Kuantan Tengah District, to improve the quality of Green Open Space, so that the city becomes more comfortable and the environmental quality is better. This study uses an inductive research approach using qualitative descriptive research methods. The inductive approach is an approach taken to build a theory based on the results of observations or observations. The spatial distribution of the availability of existing public green open spaces in Kuantan Tengah District which has the largest area is urban forest with a percentage of 68.05%, while for the type of green open space in Kuantan Tengah District which has the smallest area is the entrance gate of Teluk Kuantan city with a percentage of 0.12%. For government policies on the development of Green Open Spaces in Kuantan Tengah District, currently there is no green open space policy owned in Kuantan Singingi Regency, only guided by the RTRW policy of Kuantan Singingi Regency which regulates green space areas and zoning regulations related to green space, but has not there is a special policy that regulates green open space in Kuantan Singingi Regency intensively, such as the Regent's Regulation (PERBUP) and other related regulations. For community participation in the development of Green Open Spaces in Kuantan Tengah District, it was concluded that many people tend to be involved in the implementation of the management and maintenance of green open spaces, this is because the community also wants to be able to feel their involvement in the implementation of development and maintenance that is made whose purpose is also to society itself. There are several recommendations for the concept of developing Green Open Space in Central Kuantan District according to the potential land owned, including: educational parks, cultural parks, and parks for the elderly.
