Abstract

ABSTRACT Satria Irawan (164210037). Analysis of Factors Affecting Farmers' Exchange Rates in Riau Province. Mentor by Dr. Elinur, SP., M.Si Farmers' Exchange Rates (NTP) in Riau Province tend to experience a decline, the magnitude of the agricultural sector's contribution to GDP contribution and employment is a question of the welfare of farmers in Riau Province. This study aims to analyze, (1) the development of the exchange rate of farmers in the province of Riau, (2) the factors that affect the exchange rate of farmers in the province of Riau. The research method used is descriptive method and quantitative method using multiple linear regression analysis approach. The data used in this study are primary data obtained from the publications of the Central Statistics Agency and the Ministry of Agriculture, the data used are time series from 2003 to 2019. The results show that the Farmer's Exchange Rate in Riau Province in several periods is below 100, This indicates how low the purchasing power of Riau farmers and a decrease in the level of welfare of farmers in that period. This condition makes the value of the price index paid by farmers (Ib) to be higher when compared to the value of the price index received by farmers (It). Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) in Riau Province during the 2003 - 2019 observation period decreased 10 times, and increased 6 times, the growth of Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) in that period tended to decrease by 35.40 percent. This decrease was due to the lower index paid by farmers (Ib) than the index received by farmers (It), within 17 years the index received by farmers (It) decreased by 71.99 percent and changes in the index paid by farmers (Ib) decreased. by 59.21 percent, the decrease in the index received by farmers (It) was greater than the decrease in the index paid for (Ib) by farmers. The estimation results of the regression model show that the factors that affect Farmers' Exchange Rates in Riau Province (1) Production and the Highest Average Retail Price of Subsidized Fertilizers have a positive effect on Farmers' Exchange Rates, and (2) Inflation, Farmer Wages, and Fuel Prices negative effect on Farmer's Exchange Rate. From the results of the study, it is expected that there will be government intervention to evaluate policies to protect producers, improve the quality of agricultural production to make it more value-added, approach and introduce agricultural technology to farmers in order to increase cost and time efficiency.
