Abstract
Boiler fuel optimization is a process to achieve good / ideal results. This study aims to analyze the performance of oil palm mills. The analysis is carried out for the purpose of finding out the boiler fuel optimization according to the conditions of the rules and knowing the boiler performance. The method used is direct observation of shell a nd fiber production and boiler units. Boilers are operated to produce steam up to 30 tons of steam / hour, production produced by shell fuel 3,150 kg / day and fiber production of 5,400 kg / day. The boiler fuel requirement is 7,328 kg / day. In this shell fuel contains: potassium (K) of 7.5%, Naturium (Na) of 1.1, calcium (Ca) of 1.5%, carbonate (CO3) of 1.9%, and silica ( SIO2) by 61%. The shell has a calorific value of 3,500 kcal / kg - 4,100 kcal / kg. While the content of oil palm fibers contains 11,55 0% bb and starch 41,392% bb. The heating value of this fuel fiber is 4,492 kcal / kg. The resulting efficiency is still below standard. This can be caused by the water content in the fiber and shell that is not constant every day and the fuel stirring syst em as well as the control of fuel fedding in the boiler kitchen which still needs to be repaired again
