Abstract
ABSTRACT The design of hot asphalt mixes in the intermediate surface layer laston pavement (AC - BC) begins with a design mix in the laboratory (design mix formula), job mix formula in AMP, and trial production mix (trial mix) in AMP, laid out and compacted in the field. From a number of research journals obtained, the process of making asphalt concrete mixes based on marshall characteristic values, experienced a change in quality due to different treatments in DMF, JMF, and trial mix. It is recommended that asphalt concrete mixes are expected to provide the same quality in each test according to the specified specifications. Therefore a study was carried out on the Sta black water road. 4 + 800 to 4 + 875, with light road vehicle traffic services, heavy vehicles, motorbikes, and non-motorized vehicle. The purpose of this study was to determine the value of Marshall characteristics, comparison of Marshall characteristic values, and the quality of Marshall characteristics. The method used in this study is the marshall test method, where the performance of solid asphalt concrete is determined through marshall testing. The quality of the mixed characteristics produced from the marshall test was corrected according to the 2010 General Highways Specifications (Revision 3). Marshall analysis results on DMF for the best bitumen content is 5.40%. JMF still uses the same asphalt content, which is 5.40%. From the results of the extraction of the trial mix mixture obtained asphalt content is 5.41%. In DMF, the value of Marshall obtained for a density of 2,328 gr / cc, VIM 4,551%, VMA 15,231%, VFA 70,120%, stability 1828.32 kg, flow 3.7 mm, and the quotient for marshall equal to 494,140 kg / mm. In JMF, the Marshall value obtained for density is 2,336 gr / cc, VIM 3,906%, VMA 14,805%, VFA 73,796%, stability 1728.48 kg, flow 3.5 mm, and the marshall quotient is 493,851 kg / mm. Furthermore for the trial mix, the marshall value obtained for the density was 2,329 gr / cc, VIM 4,235%, VMA 15,105%, VFA 71,962%, stability 1672.32 kg, flow 3,625 mm, and the yield for marshall amounted to 464,533 kg / mm. Can be seen from the results of the marshall analysis of changes in quality based on the value of different marshall characteristics due to the treatment of DMF, JMF and trial mix. In the condition of the black water road service, it is necessary to have a mixture that is designed with a high stability value as in the DMF. So it was concluded that DMF, JMF, and trial mix were different / could not provide the same behavior. However, the three asphalt concrete mixing processes are still within the permissible tolerance range.
