Abstract

A mosque is one aspect that cannot be separated from Muslims because it is a place of worship for Muslims and it has roles to complete the religion. Nowadays, the function of the mosque is not only as a place of worship, but also there are many other functions such as being a place for the community to empower the economy, and most importantly, the mosque can provide positive values to broaden their horizons and to witness the greatness of Allah Almighty of His creations. The aim of this study is to investigate the application of the functions of Ar-Rahman Great Plenary Mosque in Pekanbaru City as a place for economic empowerment of the Ummah. The type of this study is descriptive qualitative research, which the data are processed by describing, analyzing and summarizing from the results of observations and interviews of 10 research informants. The results of this study show that the economic empowerment of the Ummah at ArRahman Great Plenary Mosque in Pekanbaru City has been going well and on average it is recommended to keep being implemented. The suggestion of this study is that the manager should continue to develop economic activities at the Ar-Rahman Great Plenary Mosque so that the existing businesses can develop well by providing creative economic training to the ummah so that they can develop and use their ideas effectively and systematically.
