Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of biology students in grade XI MIPA 4 of SMAN 6 Pekanbaru in Academic Year 2019/2020 by applying the discovery learning learning model conducted by in October to December 2019 in class XI MIPA 4 of SMAN 6 Pekanbaru in Academic Year 2019/2020 with the number of 32 students including 15 men and 17 women. The parameters measured were student learning outcomes in the form of absorption and completeness of student learning outcomes consisting of individual completeness and classical completeness. Data were analyzed descriptively. The absorption of understanding conceptual knowledge learning outcomes before CAR with discovery learning learning models is 67.94 with a less category then increased in the first cycle to 80.33 with enough categories then increased again in the second cycle to 87.53 with a good category. Classical completeness of students before CAR with discovery learning learning models was 62.5% with the category of incomplete, then increased in the first cycle to 71.87% with the category of incomplete, then increased again in the second cycle to 100% with the complete category. The absorption of scientific performance learning outcomes before CAR with discovery learning learning models is 79.34 with enough categories , and has increased in the first cycle to 82.24 with enough categories, and increased again in the second cycle to 88.77 with a good category. Classical completeness of students before CAR with discovery learning learning models is 68.75% with the category of incomplete, then increased in the first cycle to 100% with the category of completion, then in the second cycle to get a fixed value of 100% with the category of completion. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the application of discovery learning models can improve the learning outcomes of students of class XI MIPA 4 of SMAN 6 Pekanbaru in Academic Year 2019/2020.
