Abstract
In general, this thesis discusses how the application of defensible space can be an alternative to crime prevention in the community, especially in the housing area. Nuansa Gria flamboyant being a middle class houses located in a densely populated area, with high crime rate in the Tampan area sector, Pekanbaru. making the area included in the sector with high potential for crime activity. Defensible space becomes a prevention tool tat focuses on eliminating potential criminality by narrowing the movements of perpetrators through environmental design. For criminals, environmental can become a tool as well as a threat to themselves for operate criminal acts. This research inclides descriptive qualitative analysis by analyzing situation prevention strategies that are seen from how the application of the concept of defensive space components, becomes a crime prevention tool. The Nuansa Gria Flamboyan shows the existence of the defensible space component as an alternative to crime prevention that is adapted to the physical and social conditions in it.
