Abstract

The development of the times and the rapid growth of technology have a major impact on socio-cultural changes, including the phenomenon of crime. The phenomenon of crime is an eternal problem in human life because crime develops along with the development of the level of human civilization. From a sociological point of view, crime is a kind of social phenomenon related to individuals or society. Along with the development of the population in an area, the crime rate is also increasing, such as cases of theft, Siak Regency in Riau Province has increased crime cases from year to year. From the crime case data, the author will analyze the crime rate using the anomie theory by using qualitative research in the form of observations, interviews, and descriptive documentation that makes it easier for the author to research. The location of the research was carried out at the Siak Police Station in Siak Regency. Based on the results of the study, the increasing number of crime cases in Siak Regency was caused by the urgency of economic needs. In anomie theory, the crime is an act without norms. Durkheim used the term to describe the normless state of society that often occurs during times of social crisis, meaning that he sees the rate of deviation increasing during periods of expansion from economic downturn.
