Abstract

In recent years great efforts have been made to increase the strength of the base cement with additives of a pozzolanic nature. Fly Ash (FA) has been known to increase cement strength due to its pozzolanic properties. This is because FA has high silica content and is also rich in Al2O3 and Fe2O3 content. FA can still be increased by combining FA with Nano CaCO3 material called nanocomposite, the ability of CaCO3 nanocomposites is expected to accelerate and react to form Calcium Sylicate Hydrate (CSH) so that cement becomes denser and stronger. Besides, nano-CaCO3 will function as a filling effect that fills the cement cavity so that it can reduce cement pores and reduce cement permeability. In this study, the concentration of nano calcium carbonate was composed of 0.1% and the variation in the percentage of FA of ampel bamboo leaves of 30%, 35%, 40%, 45%, and 50%. The compressive strength and shear bond strength tests of cement were carried out by immersing the cement mold at a temperature of 60C (140F) for 24 hours under atmospheric pressure conditions based on API 10A standards. Nano CaCO3 was characterized using SEM-EDS to see its morphology and elemental content. The chemical compound silica oxide (SiO2) contained in FA is 58.9% and the content of calcium oxide (CaO) is 10.3%. With the results of SiO2 and CaO shown in the table, FA can be categorized as class C, the measurement results of the nano diameter of CaCO3 from SEM morphology using image-j software is 66 nm and has the element Carbon (C) 41.05% Mass, Oxygen (O) 45 , 56% Mass, Calcium (Ca) 12.42% Mass. The test results for compressive strength and shear bond strength, namely the strength of cement decreases with the number of FA concentrations used, the highest value obtained from the use of calcium carbonate nanocomposites with ampel bamboo leaf fly ash is 2800.51 psi for compressive strength and 547,981 psi for shear bond strength with the same concentration. the same, namely 30% bamboo leaf fly ash and 0.1% nano CaCO3.
