Abstract

This research is Riffaterre's semiotic reading of the poems in the Indonesian textbook for class X SMA/MA/SMK/MAK, revised 2017 edition of the Ministry of Education and Culture and their lessons at SMA N 2 Pekanbaru. The theory for poetry analysis uses Riffaterre's semiotic theory which consists of heuristics, hermeneutics, matrices, models, variants, and hypograms. The theory for learning poetry uses the theory of Priyatni and Sufanti. This research approach is a qualitative research approach with library and case study methods. The results of this study indicate that the meaning of poetry contained in the textbook consists of: (1) I Want by Sapardi Djoko Damono is a poem about love. (2) The Young Children's Poem by WS Rendra is a poem about social criticism to the government of youth education in Indonesia. (3) Chairil Anwar's prayer is a poem about divinity. (4) You have torn the blue cloth on the flag by Aming Aminoedin is a poem about the resistance of the Indonesian people to the colonial nation, especially the Dutch. Furthermore, it was found that some of the poetry texts in the Ministry of Education and Culture textbooks did not match the original poetry texts. The implementation of learning the meaning of poetry in class X SMA N 2 Pekanbaru is in accordance with the lesson plan. The task of students to interpret poetry has not yet reached the meaning of poetry in its entirety, this is because students do not understand the meaning of poetry. Learning the meaning of poetry at SMA Negeri 2 Pekanbaru is carried out online by utilizing e-learning through the Google Classroom application in the form of visual and audiovisual media with the type of video.
