Abstract

This study analyzes the grammatical cohesion in the editorial of the Riau Pos newspaper. The research in this thesis focuses on grammatical cohesion which includes three aspects, namely references (references), conjunctions contained in one of the newspapers, namely Riau Pos in the editorial column of editions 1 to 28 February 2021. The problems contained in this study are (1 ) How is the use of reference grammatical cohesion in the editorial of the Riau Pos newspaper? (2 To describe and analyze the use of grammatical cohesion of conjunctions in the editorial of the Riau Pos newspaper. The theory that is used as a guide in this research is Yoce Aliah Darma (2014). The method used by the writer in this research is descriptive method and the approach that the writer uses is qualitative research. The results of this study can be concluded that the grammatical cohesion in the editorial of the Riau Pos newspaper edition 1 to 28 February 2021 totals 258 data. The author found incorrect data in the use and in grammatical cohesion research in the editorial of the Riau Pos newspaper, the incorrect data amounted to 5 data, namely data 8, 14, 20, 29, 30.
