Abstract

This study aims to describe the values contained in the Losuong dance in the community of Ranah Sungkai Batu Besurat Village, XIII Koto Kampar District. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach. Collecting data through observation, interviews and documentation. The subjects in this study were 8 people consisting of 1 Losuong dance creator, 1 Losuong dance studio administrator, 1 musician, 1 dancer, 1 religious leader, 1 traditional leader and 2 general public. The place of research was conducted in Batu Besurat District XIII Koto Kampar. The data analysis techniques used in this research are data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing and verification. The theory used is the theory of the Hamidy Law (2010:49). From the findings in the field, the Losuong Dance is a dance that tells the activities of kasang ninik mamak fields in ancient times. In essence, Losuong dance is a dance that contains values that should be known by young people today. Losuong dance contains educational values, religious values, social values and traditional values. The educational value of the Losuong dance is in the form of teaching manners to both older and younger people who are found in the worship movement on all sides of the body. The religious value in the Losuong Dance is to teach the audience to do something that must begin with praying first. The social value in this Losuong dance is that this dance connects the relationship between the community and the Losuong dance dancers, fosters a sense of togetherness, mutual cooperation, mutual help, tolerance and cooperation. The traditional value of the Losuong dance is that this dance comes from the ninik mamak activities in ancient times who used to cultivate kasang ranging from menugau, membonio, mosiang, mauai, maiok padi, manjomu padi, mambangkik padi, manompi padi, maangin, mambo padi going home, pounding rice
