Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the values of character education and musical elements contained in the kompang music in the song Ya Nabi at Sanggar Tengkah Zapin Pekanbaru, Riau Province. The theory used by researchers in character education is the theory of Ratna Megawangi (2004:93) which explains that the values of character education consist of 9 pillars of noble character that should be used as a reference in character education, both at school and outside school, namely as follows: following: (a) love of Allah and all of His creation (love Allah, trust, reverence, loyalty), (b) independence and responsibility (responsibility, excellence, self reliance, orderliness), (c) honesty/trust, wise ( trustworthiness, reliability, honesty), (d) respect and courtesy (respect, courtesy, obedience), (e) generous, helpful and mutual cooperation (love, compassion, caring, empathy, generousity, moderation, cooperation), (f) confident, creative, and hardworking (confidence, assertiveness, creativity, resourcefulness, courage, determination and enthusiasm), (g) leadership and justice (justice, fairness, mercy, leadership), (h) kind and humble (kindness, friendliness, humility, modesty), (i) tolerance and peace and unity (tolerance, flexibility, peacefulness, unity. The method used by the researcher is a qualitative research using descriptive method, where the researcher collects accurate data from sources regarding the value of character education and musical elements in this Ya Nabi song to improve research results and make it easier to determine the formulation of the problem. The results of this study are that there are four educational values in the Ya Nabi song, namely the educational value of God's love and all of His creation, namely in the Ya Nabi song, he invites us to always pray in order to get God's love. The value of character education is respectable and polite, that is, if we pray often, we can grow our respect for the Prophet. The value of good and humble character education, namely praying is included in good deeds. The value of character education is tolerance, peace and unity, that is, if we pray, we can grow peace within us.
