Abstract

The existence of social institutions at the village level especially RT / RW in the midst of the community is very important because this institution acts as a social institution that is needed by the community. RT / RW institutions are used by the community in addition to facilities to deal with social problems to the extension of the government's arm to bring development messages from the government to the community and vice versa. The method in this study uses Levinson's theory in Soekanto (2001). Qualitative type with descriptive method, which prioritizes the list of interviews as a data collection tool and conducts observation and documentation, and uses sampling techniques. This research shows that the role of RT / RW social institutions in assisting the tasks of the village government in Telayap Village, Pelalawan District, Pelalawan Regency, is seen from the 3 indicators that the author has set, namely Rules, Personal and Social Structure. The inhibiting factor in the implementation of the role of the RT / RW is the lack of participation and outreach to the community.
